Speaker: Isaac Bogoch, Infectious Diseases, Medicine, U of T

Title: “Emerging Infections and How to Fight Them” 

Abstract: We will discuss how infectious diseases emerge and ultimately spread around the world, and then delve into mechanisms to best prevent, detect and respond to outbreaks, including discussing how misinformation and disinformation play a role.

Bio: Isaac Bogoch is an Infectious Diseases specialist at the Toronto General Hospital, and a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University Health Network. Dr. Bogoch works at the intersection of clinical medicine, global health, policy and security. He divides his clinical and research efforts between Toronto and several countries in Africa and Asia. His work focuses on reducing the impact of emerging infectious diseases like COVID-19, mpox, and HIV, while also developing strategies to enhance the quality of medical care in low-resource settings.
