Title: “Environmental Problem Solving: A Wicked Thing”
Abstract: Environmental problems are people problems. This presentation traces two decades of conservation work — Costa Rica to Canada — across fisheries, wildlife corridors, and protected areas. The central argument: failure in environmental problem solving is not technical. It is institutional. Competing logics define which problems get attention and which solutions gain legitimacy.
Bio: Andrés Jiménez Monge is Executive Director of Ontario Nature. A bilingual conservation strategist with roots in Costa Rica and two decades of field and institutional work across Latin America and Canada, he examines why environmental problem solving fails — and what it takes to make it stick.
