Discussion Leader: Jim Gurd
This book by journalist and Pulitzer Prize finalist William Carlsen, who follows in the footsteps of nineteenth century archaeological pioneers, traces their legendary exploration and discovery of the Mayan civilization. Richly illustrated with maps and more than 100 original illustrations the book uncovers the pyramids, temples and plazas of the most important Mayan sites in Central America. This is a good read – an exciting chronicle and travelogue into time past and present. (Available in all formats; 462 pages plus notes)
